To go on a luxury holiday, you don’t have to look only for paradise beaches and azure waters. There is a great interest in places with a rich history, which impress with their power and a touch of mystery. One of these is Machu Picchu in Peru, the former city of the Incas. It is located 112 kilometres from the Peruvian city of Cuzco.

The ruins of Machu Picchu were discovered quite recently, in 1911, and the city’s heyday was in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is still unknown what was the purpose of all the buildings, but they still amaze with their size, shape and precision. The town was made of white granite and was situated on terraces of different heights on a hill with agricultural areas on its slopes.
